Regular 423 Pension Benefit Service Length Determination A government employee was retired after completing 31 years, 11 months and 14 days, but he was pensioned by a civil servant for 31 years to serve a pension for 32 years. Was entitled to benefits, since only the 17-day period was favorable toward the completion of 32 years, under Regulation 423 (1) of the Civil Service Regulations, the reduction of the period, automatically extended if not more than 6 months, was authorized. A shortage of more than six months was also acceptable by the authority, provided that the authorities had a 17-day shortage of civil servants under Regln 423 (2) of the Civil Service Regulations.
