Section 150 (2) Punjab Local Government Election Rules, 2005, Rr 3 (g) (h), 25 and 67 Re-polling Returned candidates demand declaration of election results from Returning Officer on the basis of police report regarding obstruction during polling. Kurlya stations send the matter to the District Returning Officer seeking guidance on the declaration of election results, the District Returning Officer again sends the matter to the Election Commission, which again directs the polling. In the constitutional jurisdiction of the High Court, the High Court dismissed the petition. He directed the returning candidates to declare the election results of the returning candidates so that they could get relief in view of the provisions of R67 of Punjab Local Government Election Rules, 2005. Presiding officers, who were in charge of the polling stations, were worried that the Ritu Ranking Officer should have announced the results instead of seeking guidance from the District Returning Officer, leaving the parties to consult the Election Tribunal, if any of them. If anybody suffers from the same Election Commission, he was authorized under R (G) (H) of Punjab Local Government. Since the correct information had not been kept before, the re-polling was approved by the Election Commission.
